Town of Poughkeepsie residents over 55 years old are welcome to join and become active members of our Senior Center.  The Center offers diversified programs aimed to engage our seniors in social, health related, fitness, educational and recreational activities. You can stop in to play cards or board games, read the paper and get a cup of coffee anytime we are open.  On a weekly basis we usually schedule exercise classes, zumba, chair yoga, a walking club, bocce (or active indoor games), brain games, basic computer class and guest speakers.  Click here for details about our activities.You are welcome to come the Center any weekday or every weekday.  Hours are: Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM; There is no fee to become a member of the Center, however we do charge fees for some classes and events to cover expenses. Our Chair Yoga classes are bursting at the seams.  To accommodate our growing   numbers and ability levels we are changing some of our classes.   We will continue to offer Chair Yoga Level 1 classes on Mondays at  1:00 PM , Wednesdays at 1:00 PM and Fridays at 11:00 AM .   We offer a Chair Yoga Level 2 class  for those with more experience  in Chair Yoga or more stamina and better balance.  This class will be Fridays between 9:30 and 10:30 AM.    New in 2020-  "Mat Yoga for Seniors"  This is a BASIC mat yoga class that is more advanced than the Chair Level 2 Class. The class will be Wednesdays from 2:15 to 3:15. Please bring a yoga mat.Fee $3.00 per class. Pay at the door.  Pre-registration is not required. Free Senior Center membership required (click here for details).We also have “All Levels Yoga”, a traditional mat yoga class,  on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5:30-6:45.  This class is more challenging than the Chair Yoga Level 2 or the Mat Yoga for Seniors class.Instructor:  Toni Farkas

The choreography incorporates hip-hop, soca, samba, salsa, merengue and mambo.  Zumba Gold is perfect for active older adults who are looking for a modified Zumba® class that recreates the original moves you love at a lower-intensity. ... The design of the class introduces easy-to-follow Zumba choreography that focuses on balance, range of motion and coordination.Instructor:  Meg Foster

Every Thursday we have the Lunch and Learn Program.  For the Learn part, we bring  guest speakers to share something with you.  Topics have varied widely.  There is something for everyone.  Check for the weekly topic in the Senior Explorer.The Lunch part takes several forms.  The first Thursday of the month is generally "Healthy Thursday" sponsored by Vassar Brothers Hospital and Healthquest. The speaker talks abut a health related topic.  The meal is free.  Pre-signup is required.  The last Thursday is a "Know Your Community Luncheon" with free  lunch provided by Stop and Shop. Pre-signup is required.   The other Thursdays we order Pizza.  Pizza is available at $1.50 per slice.  Come on down enjoy lunch and learn something special from one of our guest speakers.

Every Thursday we have the Lunch and Learn Program.  For the Learn part, we bring  guest speakers to share something with you.  Topics have varied widely.  There is something for everyone.  Check for the weekly topic in the Senior Explorer.The Lunch part takes several forms.  The first Thursday of the month is generally "Healthy Thursday" sponsored by Vassar Brothers Hospital and Healthquest. The speaker talks abut a health related topic.  The meal is free.  Pre-signup is required.  The last Thursday is a "Know Your Community Luncheon" with free  lunch provided by Stop and Shop. Pre-signup is required.   The other Thursdays we order Pizza.  Pizza is available at $1.50 per slice.  Come on down enjoy lunch and learn something special from one of our guest speakers.

Every Thursday we have the Lunch and Learn Program.  For the Learn part, we bring  guest speakers to share something with you.  Topics have varied widely.  There is something for everyone.  Check for the weekly topic in the Senior Explorer.The Lunch part takes several forms.  The first Thursday of the month is generally "Healthy Thursday" sponsored by Vassar Brothers Hospital and Healthquest. The speaker talks abut a health related topic.  The meal is free.  Pre-signup is required.  The last Thursday is a "Know Your Community Luncheon" with free  lunch provided by Stop and Shop. Pre-signup is required.   The other Thursdays we order Pizza.  Pizza is available at $1.50 per slice.  Come on down enjoy lunch and learn something special from one of our guest speakers.

The class will be Wednesdays from 2:15 to 3:15. Please bring a yoga mat.Fee $3.00 per class. Pay at the door.  Pre-registration is not required. Our Chair Yoga classes are bursting at the seams.  To accommodate our growing   numbers and ability levels we are changing some of our classes.   We will continue to offer Chair Yoga Level 1 classes on Mondays at  1:00 PM , Wednesdays at 1:00 PM and Fridays at 11:00 AM .   We offer a Chair Yoga Level 2 class  for those with more experience  in Chair Yoga or more stamina and better balance.  This class will be Fridays between 9:30 and 10:30 AM.    New in 2020-  "Mat Yoga for Seniors"  This is a BASIC mat yoga class that is more advanced than the Chair Level 2 Class. The class will be Wednesdays from 2:15 to 3:15. Please bring a yoga mat.Fee $3.00 per class. Pay at the door.  Pre-registration is not required. Town of Poughkeepsie residents over 55 years old are welcome to join and become active members of our Senior Center.  The Center offers diversified programs aimed to engage our seniors in social, health related, fitness, educational and recreational activities. You can stop in to play cards or board games, read the paper and get a cup of coffee anytime we are open.  On a weekly basis we usually schedule exercise classes, zumba, chair yoga, a walking club, bocce (or active indoor games), brain games, basic computer class and guest speakers.  Click here for details about our activities.You are welcome to come the Center any weekday or every weekday.  Hours are: Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM; There is no fee to become a member of the Center, however we do charge fees for some classes and events to cover expenses.
